Call Forwarding

Route unanswered calls to CallHandlr in about 2 minutes.

Starter

Call forwarding tells your phone: "if I don't answer within a few rings, send the call to CallHandlr automatically." Your callers won't notice anything different - they just get an answer instead of voicemail.

Note

If you're using a CallHandlr-provided number instead of your own, you can skip this page entirely. We'll email the number to you when it's ready, and it will also appear in your portal settings.

Your CallHandlr forwarding number

You'll find your unique CallHandlr forwarding number in your portal settings after we've provisioned it. We'll also send it to you by email. You'll need this number for the steps below.

Tip

Keep this number saved somewhere handy. You'll only need to set it up once, but it's useful to have if you ever change devices.

Setting up on iPhone

1

Open Settings

Go to Settings on your iPhone.
2

Go to Phone

Scroll down and tap Apps, then go to Phone.
3

Tap Call Forwarding

Tap Call Forwarding and toggle it on.
4

Enter the forwarding number

Tap Forward To and enter your CallHandlr forwarding number.
5

Done

Go back. Call forwarding is now active. All calls will forward immediately when unanswered.

Important

iPhone's built-in call forwarding sends all calls immediately - it doesn't wait for a number of rings. If you want CallHandlr to only pick up after a few rings (giving you a chance to answer first), use the carrier code method below instead.

Setting up on Android

Android settings vary by manufacturer, but the steps are broadly the same:

1

Open the Phone app

Open your Phone app and tap the three-dot menu (top right).
2

Go to Settings

Tap SettingsCalling accounts → your SIM.
3

Find Call Forwarding

Tap Call forwardingWhen unanswered.
4

Enter the forwarding number

Enter your CallHandlr forwarding number and confirm.

Tip

On Samsung devices, go to Phone app → More options → Settings → Supplementary services → Call forwarding.

Setting up using a carrier code (recommended)

Carrier codes work on any phone regardless of make or model. They also let you control exactly how many seconds pass before CallHandlr picks up - giving you time to answer first.

Forward on no answer (recommended - 10 seconds)

Dial this code from your phone, replacing the number with your CallHandlr forwarding number:

**61*+447XXXXXXXXX*11*10#

The 10 at the end means the call is diverted after 10 seconds. You can change this to 15, 20, or 30 seconds.

Replace [number] with your CallHandlr forwarding number in full international format, e.g. +447412355614. Don't include spaces.

Testing your setup

Once forwarding is set up, test it straight away:

  • Call your business number from a different phone
  • Don't answer - wait for CallHandlr to pick up
  • You should hear "Thanks for calling [your business name]..."
  • Go through the conversation and check your SMS arrives within seconds

Turning off call forwarding

To cancel forwarding at any time, dial:

##61#

This works on all major UK networks. Forwarding will stop immediately and your phone will behave as normal.
